The name is Baroness.

They are a metal band from Savannah, Georgia. They play the same type of metal as Mastodon (prog metal/sludge metal). They are considerably proggier than Mastodon, though, and definitely more epic. They sorta have a classic-rock vibe, you could say. Anyways, don’t let ‘metal’ throw you off, these guys are heavy but they’re not br00tal and they’re quite accessible and are quite worth your time.
Their 2006 album The Red Album was a phenomenal record and received rave reviews from metal critics. If I’m correct their fan base is not just metalheads, they probably attract indie hipsters as well. If Rolling Stone knew about these guys they would probably be covered, like their Georgia peers Mastodon.
Their new album The Blue Record is coming out in October; be sure to pick it up. I’ve heard it’s on the same level or better than The Red Album and far better than Crack The Skye. That would be quite a feat.
To prepare you for the awesomeness that will be The Blue Record, you should go ahead and download some vintage Baroness.
From The Red Album:

Wanderlust (great song)
