As you may know by now I am a fan of all things Ninja Tune. Not only do they feature some talented break beat, drum and base or triphop artists, but they also have some talented singer/songwriter acts. Then there is The Cinematic Orchestra, who really defy classification because in both live and in studio, employs a live band which improvises along with a turntablist and electronic elements such as samples provided by founder Jason Swinscoe.

The debut album, Motion, met with such critical success that they were asked to perform at the Director’s Guild Awards presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Stanley Kubrick.

Additionally, the band was asked by the Porto European City of Culture 2000 festival to write a new score to the classic 1929 Dziga Vertov Russian silent film Man with a Movie Camera, to be performed live in accompaniment with a showing of the film. I recommend that you get the film and watch it with the Cinematic Orchestra recording. It is an absolutely AMAZING work.

The track I am posting today is dedicated to my girls.

Enjoy, Reliant6 out!
