Vile
(Right Click and “Save Link/Target As”)
This is one of my favorite songs, EVER, from one of my favorite bands, EVER. The track is off of the Melvins 1989 release “Ozma”. This disc also contains (as a bonus) their first (proper) studio album “Gluey Porch Treatments” and is a must have for any fan of Grunge or Hard Rock music. The album is available at Zune Marketplace in mp3 format, and you can get the CD from Amazon.
This album was the 2nd featuring Dale Crover on Drums, and the first to feature Lori Black (a.k.a. Lorax, a.k.a. Shirley Temple’s daughter) on Bass.
ATTENTION MODERATOR: While your first intuition might be to not erase my previous post, remember that diversity sparks an interested, and active participation in the audience. Plus, that song does not in any way suck. There’s no point in trying to brainwash the masses, people have their own opinion no matter how cleverly you ‘market’ it.
My GOD that’s one of the BEST songs I’ve ever HEARD! It’s also the the first I’ve heard from the Melvins which are obviously worth checking out.
Point taken. The Melvins are an acquired taste for some people. However, I’m not trying to “market” anything. I’m just posting mp3s of songs that I like.
Melvins are definitely an acquired taste, but posting something from Gluey Porch Treatments probably wasn’t the best idea for a first listen. When I introduce people to the Melvins it’s usually songs from Stoner Witch or Stag, or sometimes Houdini.
I just can’t help thanking you for posting such a nuclear bomb from Melvins! I met Melvins in the Mesomorph Enduros compilation, and still can’t believe my ears. Listening to it right now, great…
Justin, though I agree Vile is hard for people not used to things like Melvins, it shows well what they are. But OK, Vast Filthy Prison or Night Goat could tell it more…
Keep up!
Ah, forgot it, though needless: Vile is the Melvins song in Mesomorph Enduros. Plus, I strongly recommend this compilation!
